Brad & Heather - Owners
Owners Brad & Heather Simmons
Our History...

Hello! We are Brad and Heather Simmons and are both natives of Gilmer County with family ties going back multiple generations. We met when I, Heather, was the manager of Jilly’s Pub. After three years of being with Jilly’s I left and pursued other ventures but always had the desire to own the Pub. Brad and I were married in December of 2012. Brad was a sergeant with the Gilmer County Fire Department and assisted his dad at Simmons Grading with daily activities as well. Two years after leaving employment at the Pub the opportunity presented itself for us to purchase it, or as Brad refers to it as “buying Heather a job”. I naturally told him he was crazy, but my desire to own the Pub returned and we agreed it would be a good investment for our future and proceeded with the purchase. On May 1, 2014, we became the owners of Jilly’s Pub. On New Year’s Eve 2014 we celebrated out with the old and in with the new and went forward with the name change to what you all know as River Street Tavern today. Brad and I love our hometown of Ellijay and want to be a part of its growth. Nothing makes us happier than to see good things happen with our community. We welcome you to visit our Tavern and hope that you are made to feel at home here.
why dollars on ceiling
Money On The Ceiling Could Equal A Free Beer!
How Do The Dollar Bills Get On The Ceiling?

You start with a dollar bill, quarter and a thumb tack. The thumb tack is centered into the dollar bill, the quarter is placed on top of the thumb tack and the dollar bill is folded up so that it mimics a dart. Before you fold the dollar bill up your server will mark the quarter for a free beer. You then toss the dollar bill up, the quarter gives it the weight to get to the ceiling and pushes the thumb-tack in. The dollar bill will eventually relax, especially on high humidity days. Once it relaxes the quarter will fall out and whoever retrieves the quarter will receive a free beer.
